Jonathan Otero
President
Jonathan, based in Inverness, FL, is a distinguished figure in the music industry. As an Educational Artist for Vic Firth and Zildjian and the CEO of Jotero Music, he brings expertise and innovation to his role as a marching arts educator and designer across multiple states.
His musical journey began with the drum set and saxophone, evolving into a deep passion for marching band and drumline during high school. Jonathan’s professional accomplishments include performing at Walt Disney World and serving as a percussion instructor and arranger for numerous high schools, such as Haines City High, Poinciana High, and Citrus High. His extensive career also spans roles with RPT Percussion, Star City Bulldog Regiment, South Sumter High, and Heat Wave Drum & Bugle Corps.
Currently, Jonathan is the Percussion Director for Mount Dora High and Middle Schools in Florida, as well as the Percussion Designer and Program Consultant at Star City High School in Arkansas. His work reflects a commitment to excellence and a dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
Brian York
Vice President
Mr. Brian York is in his 23rd year as a music educator.
Mr. York received his Master of Music from the American Band College of Central Washington University in the Summer of 2019. He earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Music Performance and Education from the University of West Florida in the spring of 2000 under the supervision of Professors Richard Glaze and Wayne Webster. He studied private percussion from Dr. Gary Werdeshime (Florida State University), Dr. John Wooten (University of Southern Mississippi), and Keith Connelly (drum set player with 70’s rock band 3 Dog Night). While in Pensacola, he performed with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, the Okaloosa Chamber Orchestra, the Pensacola Opera, and the Pensacola Little Theatre.
Mr. York became the Middle School Director/Assistant High School Band Director at Star City School District in June of 2014 and took over as the Director of Bands in the fall of 2016. Prior to moving to Star City, he was the Director of Bands at Citrus High School (Inverness, FL) for 9 years, the band director/Performing Arts department chair at Pensacola High School (Pensacola, FL) for 4 years, and the Band and Choir Director/General Music Teacher at Pensacola Catholic High School for 2 years. He was also the adjunct percussion professor at the University of West Florida from 2000 to 2002.
Mr. York frequently composes musical arrangements and consults at band camps throughout Florida, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana. He has served as the vice president of the Arkansas Chapter of Percussive Arts Society and is currently the region secretary/treasurer for ASBOA Region 3. He is also an active member of the National Association for Music Education, the National Band Association, The Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association, and The Arkansas Bandmasters Association.
Brian York is an educational artist for Innovative Percussion, Mapex/Majestic Percussion, Jupiter Instruments, and Evans Drumheads. He serves as the Worship Leader at Yorktown First Baptist Church, and he currently resides in Star City, AR with his wife Denise and 3 children, Sebastian, Taylor, and Spencer.
Jordan Pinchback
Secretary
Born in North Carolina and raised in Tampa, Florida, Jordon earned a bachelor’s in paralegal studies from St. Petersburg College. Since 2017, he’s been an educational technician at Countryside High, focusing on visual and brass instruction and indoor percussion. He’s on the visual staff for Leto High, Gaither High, and Horizon Winds.
Jordon serves as assistant director and board secretary of Siege Percussion. He completed seasons as a drum major for Heat Wave and as a contra player with Pacific Crest. After aging out, he joined Heat Wave’s administrative team, contributing to their DCI appearances. In 2019, Jordon assisted Spirit of Atlanta’s tour operations. From 2020-2022, he learned policy creation and season planning from Pacific Crest leaders. Jordon was tour director for Louisiana Stars in 2022 and director of operations and assistant corps director for Southwind in 2023.
Outside of pageantry, Jordon teaches adult education in Hillsborough County and is pursuing a master’s in public administration from Troy University.
Andrew Hill
Treasurer
Andrew Hill has been engaged in music ensembles, both school-affiliated and independent, for 11 years. This includes 1 season competing in indoor percussion with RPT, 1 season competing in DCI with Heatwave, as well as 3 seasons performing with USF’s Herd of Thunder Marching Band. While attending USF, he received his bachelor degree in Finance and spent 1 year as Treasurer for Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity and 1 year as the Treasurer of the Herd of Thunder Student Association where he helped manage the HOT Band’s finances and assisted in fundraising.
Andrew now works at Kolter Land, handling financial reprojections and financial reporting of various land development projects.
